We now have an exciting and challenging opportunity to join ASCO as a General Manager for Aviation and Marine. This role will provide overall leadership and strategic direction across our aviation and marine business, leading the development and growth across the UK and internationally.
This role holds full accountability for performance, P&L, safety, service excellence, and strategic development across these critical business areas. It will drive the transformation and integration of aviation and marine operations to deliver high-reliability services for offshore energy clients, while strengthening compliance, digitalisation, and commercial returns.
As our successful candidate, you will be critical in setting the strategy and direction for the Marine and Aviation Services, drawing on your expertise and knowledge of the marketplace. Key accountabilities include:
Strategic Leadership
•Define and lead the business strategy for aviation and marine logistics in line with ASCO’s corporate goals.
•Shape and execute growth plans across core and emerging energy markets, ensuring commercial agility and sustainable operations.
•Drive innovation and the adoption of digital solutions to optimise air and marine logistics performance, including scheduling, tracking, and operational planning.
Operational & Regulatory Oversight
•Oversee aviation operations including flight scheduling, personnel movement, and Vantage system integration.
•Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations across marine services including chartering, vessel sharing, marine assurance, and 500m zone marine traffic control.
•Strengthen adherence to aviation and marine industry regulations, contractual service level agreements, and ASCO’s safety management systems.
•Manage operational risk, ensure readiness, and support offshore logistics planning across client portfolios.
Commercial & Financial Management
•Own P&L for the aviation and marine business units, with responsibility for budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
•Lead commercial bid activity, pricing strategy, and contract negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners.
•Identify and pursue new revenue streams, margin improvement, and commercial partnerships aligned with growth strategy.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
•Act as the senior point of contact for key clients, regulators, aviation authorities, and marine stakeholders.
•Build strong customer relationships, ensuring high satisfaction, responsiveness, and retention.
•Support contract performance reviews and provide strategic insight to customer operations and logistics planning functions.
People Leadership & Culture
•Lead, coach, and develop high-performing aviation and marine teams, ensuring clarity of purpose and alignment to business priorities.
•Promote a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
•Lead resourcing and succession planning for key operational roles.
Collaboration & Integration
•Collaborate across ASCO’s logistics, planning, marine coordination, and integrated services teams to deliver joined-up client offerings.
•Drive synergy between aviation and marine functions to reduce logistics costs, enhance safety, and improve service integration.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
•Highly credible management level experience gained within the oil & gas industry or an environment with similar types of exposure.
•An ability to manage seamless operational change and to systemise processes where appropriate.
•Proven results of strategic business development and demonstrated experience as a safety leader.
•Commercially astute and customer focused with the ability to network, influence and build and maintain effective working relationships
•Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
•Ability to work stand-alone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while a positive contributor to the wider team.
•Ability to drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
•Solutions based with strong planning, organising and numeric skills, and an excellent attention to detail.
•Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite and Vantage.
Minimum Qualifications
•Qualified to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience.
•Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications/Competencies
•Recognised qualification in marine or aviation safety management
•Training in project management, operational excellence, or continuous improvement
