Commercially aware with experience operating in a fast-paced, customer facing environment, you will ensure our fleet of vehicles are efficiently routed and utilised to their full capacity, maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
Roles & Responsibilities
•Utilising the Transport Management System (TMS) to ensure the efficient collection and delivery of cargo, creating Sales Order Lines as required for invoicing purposes in line with individual customer requirements.
•Following Transport Work Aids to ensure accuracy of charge-outs (correct hours, job completed etc).
•Planning Transport activity, disseminating to the Transport and Distribution Team.
•Ensuring Drivers are provided with, and understand, clear and detailed work instructions including weekend handovers.
•Co-ordinating the use of special type vehicles (e.g. extending trailers, step frames, low loaders).
•Planning and communicating the movement of abnormal loads in line with legislation.
•Ensuring collection and delivery information communicated to/from the drivers through TMS is fully understood, actioned and closed out within the system.
•Reviewing vehicle tracking system to reduce inefficiencies and improve performance.
•Actively analysing service to identify areas where 3rd party costs can be reduced.
•Assist in ensuring vehicles and trailers are at relevant service providers in line with legislative requirements for MOT and inspection.
•Participating in the continuous improvement of customer service, processes and cost effectiveness, challenging behaviours which fall below ASCO's safety and customer service standards.
•Continuously promoting a pro-active HSEQ culture, ensuring participation and compliance.
•Ensuring performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes.
•Ad-hoc duties as and when required to support the wider team.
•On-call support by telephone required for holiday and absence cover.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
•Experience within supply chain logistics, in particular road transport legislation and the management of driver hours.
•Flexibility to support periods of absence (annual leave, sickness etc) out with designated shift pattern.
•Customer focused.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
•The ability to work stand-alone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while contributing to the wider team.
•Computer literate across the Microsoft suite, ideally including Excel and financial planning/tracking.
Desirable Qualifications/Competencies
•Previous experience in a very fast-moving transport environment, controlling multiple vehicles with ever changing priorities.
•Knowledge of road transport legislation and the management of driver hours. Dangerous Good Awareness.
•CILT Membership.
•Certificate in Professional Competence.
