As Technical Chemist, you will provide technical advice and support to ensure waste is managed in compliance with the site permit, legislation and customer requirements. This role would be well suited to a recent graduate. Key responsibilities include:
•Receive enquiries from our UK wide customer base and provide competent technical guidance.
•Provide technical assessments, including the UK classification of hazardous waste in line with guidance by regulating authorities (EA & SEPA).
•Utilise and maintain our internal waste and enquiry database.
•Assist and support the UK customer service team in the development of the sales function and assist in the efficient preparation and delivery of sales quotes to meet client service level agreements.
•Ensure compliance of all UK waste quotes with relevant site permits and waste management licences.
•Work with the local site managers and operational staff to ensure all waste received meets the pre-acceptance criteria or is as described.
•Work on local sites to receipt, process waste for storage and dispatch and relevant system data management.
•Provide local support for our customers in Haz-packing and listing their waste suitably for transport.
•Ensure waste is labelled and stored in line with site permits and relevant legislation.
•Route hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams to established disposal sites within the UK according to approved matrixes.
•Proactively assist in identifying new disposal site options throughout the UK.
•Build up working relationships with third party disposal routes.
•Actively support other areas of the business as required including Industrial Services and Logistics.
•Occasional UK travel may be required to assist other ASCO UK locations and customers, and for training and development.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours)
•Maintains positive work relationships and can communicate effectively
•Computer literate including MS office suite of applications
•Ability to work under pressure
Minimum Qualifications
•HNC/D in Chemistry related subject - or - Degree in Chemistry related subject
Desirable Qualifications/Competencies
•Knowledge of waste process and site permits and other waste legislation
•Understanding of waste management sector & legislation
•Working at Height
•Forklift Certificate
