As our ideal candidate, you will be responsible for efficiently utilising tools and resources to prepare, plan, and execute both internal and external transportation operations, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and first-class service delivery. The role will require participation in a Saturday duty rota on a one-in-four basis.
We are looking for an energetic, forward-thinking individual who can maintain effective communication channels and proactively solve problems. With commercial awareness and experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment, you will serve as the primary point of contact for planning our clients' transportation needs. Key responsibilities of the role include:
•Focal Point for the planning of clients' transport requirements, assisting other Transport Planners as required.
•Attend operations calls as required, providing those on the calls with relevant information.
•Utilise TMS (Transport Management System) effectively ensuring cargo is efficiently collected, delivered, and presented accurately for invoicing in line with individual customer requirements.
•Create and recreate jobs and journeys from pending materials pushed through from QMS, based on sailing time ensuring maximum efficiency.
•Discuss collections with vendors to confirm cargo for collection matches. Discuss timings loading sequence to ensure cargo is collected in line with vessel Loading/Sailing times.
•Review collection times v scheduled work plan. Communicating any late arrivals for collections to vendors/shipping teams.
•Validate chargeable work prior to invoicing.
•Review Power BI identifying areas for improvement.
•Respond in a timely professional manner to general queries.
•Reviewing vehicle tracking system to reduce inefficiencies and improve performance.
•You will be required to cover the Transport Controller role for annual leave/absence cover.
•Ad-hoc duties as and when required to support the Transport Manager and wider team.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
•Experience of Road Transport Legislation, including drivers' hours.
•Experience in a similar operations-based planning role.
•Good knowledge of Microsoft and ability to adapt and learn other systems.
•Excellent communication skills and team player.
•Remains highly focused under pressure, adapting to short timescales and changing priorities.
•Solutions based, motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and customer support, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
•A self-starter who demonstrates initiative and ownership and instils the same in others.
•Commercially aware.
•An attention to detail, the ability to analyse and report data, and excellent planning and organising skills.
