Reporting to the HSSEQ Manager, the successful applicant will provide technical advice and support to personnel at all levels on HSSEQ matters to ensure that all operations are carried out in line with legislative requirements, HSE guidance, and approved codes of practice. You will promote and monitor compliance with ASCO’s Integrated Management System (AIMS), across all areas of responsibility. Duties include but not limited to:
•Provide HSSEQ technical advice, support, and guidance on demand for the defined areas of responsibility to operations managers and staff.
•Monitor compliance with the standards set within ASCO’s Integrated Management System
•Establish and maintain strong working relationships with client representatives of supported business units.
•Ensure that HSSEQ statistics and updates are regularly and effectively communicated to the workforce.
•Support the delivery of HSSEQ Themes and Campaigns across supported business units.
•Undertake regular site visits to engage with personnel on HSSEQ matters, provide briefings, carry out inspections, and safety monitoring.
•Oversee incident investigations and the manage the process from start to finish ensuring the completion of investigations to a high standard in a timely manner.
•Where necessary, support the commercial tendering process for Teesworks through the compilation of high quality HSSEQ submissions within specified deadlines.
•Support the continuous improvement of ASCO’s HSSEQ Integrated Management System through the sharing of industry best practice.
•Undertake and monitor site verification audits in Teesworks ensuring that all actions are closed out within specified deadlines.
•Work with operational managers to ensure that all new and existing HSSEQ challenges are assessed, and the development of practicable solutions are implemented to effectively mitigate risk.
•Support the planning and organisation of emergency response drills and exercises where required.
•Interface with appropriate industry bodies and enforcement authorities regarding operational HSSEQ requirements
•Promote HSSEQ Excellence through the attendance at client monthly / quarterly performance reviews and events where required.
•Continually deliver excellent service delivery and customer engagement to promote ASCO as the partner of choice.
•Undertake HSSEQ Inductions for new personnel where required.
•Fully endorse the ASCO ‘Stop the Job’ policy and commitment to proactive intervention where an unsafe act or condition is observed.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
•Ability to build effective working relationships both with clients and with colleagues across all levels of the business.
•Proven track record in a safety related discipline, with a fair and consistent approach
•Excellent communicator with strong inter-personal and presentation skills
•Ability to influence, drive change and innovate.
•Conversant with HSSEQ legislation, audit, incident management, risk management, training and behavioural based approaches
•Good knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001
•Experienced in accident/incident investigation.
•Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite and a practical understanding of data entry and reporting applications.
•Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
•Ability to produce work to a high standard within set deadlines and under pressure.
Minimum Qualifications
•Formally recognised Health and Safety Qualification i.e. NEBOSH certificate or equivalent
•Membership of IOSH or working towards
•Train the Trainer certificate or equivalent
•UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications/Competencies
•Previous experience in a similarly challenging role preferable
•Incident Investigation Root Cause Analysis Training i.e. Kelvin Top-Set
•ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 Internal Auditor
•Knowledge of Dangerous Goods legislation
•A recognised Security and Environmental qualification
•Experience of working directly for demanding clients in a similar role
